"HOW TO" Discover your Essentials

As a parent or caregiver each day can feel filled with tasks that never end but lead us nowhere. The feeling can be so heavy and discouraging and the todo list can feel more like a treadmill. At the end of the day do you usually feel more as if you are failing or succeeding?

At Find the Magic we focus heavily on determining what things are essential for you, in your life and inside each day so that you can focus your initial energy there.

Here are our steps for discovering what is essential for you-

  1. Make 3 lists of the important things you do or would like to do in your day

    1. Essentials - distill this down until it is SHORT and truly important to your core life values, it should be means to getting to the person you would like to become or guiding your family to where you see true meaning.

    2. Super Important

    3. Good to Do

  2. Make it non-negotiable. Your essentials are the things inside this day that you will get to no matter the obstacle.

  3. Make a list of the FEELING that completing these essentials will evoke in you. Abundant? Energetic? Complete? Etc, this is your why and will propel you forward.

  4. Print. I (Felica) like to list out my essentials inside my daily todos, Taralyn likes a year at a glance calendar that she can check off each day of essentials. Whatever makes sense to you make it concrete and apparent when you have completed your essentials.

This life can be full of options. Options create fatigue, we know that in order to be successful we should laser focus into the things that move the envelope FOR US. Not what the world tells us we should do but what we feel impelled to achieve from personal inspiration and desire!
